Moonlight Canoe Ride on the Haw River
With a guide and boats from the Haw River Canoe and Kayak Co., my boys, wife and I took a moonlight canoe ride on the Haw River, putting in at Saxapahaw in Alamance County, NC. It was a delightful evening. We also enjoyed a too brief visit to the town of Saxapahaw, which seems to doing a great job of transforming itself from a former mill village into a tourist attraction and model of environmentally-conscious living. LEED-Certified “Briar Club” Completed
Briar Chapel's clubhouse, the Briar Club, was recently completed and looks incredible. This LEED-Certified facility includes a number of gathering rooms (many with beautiful stone fireplaces), a state-of-the-art fitness facility, catering kitchen, classrooms, and offices for HOA staff. All of the artwork, furniture and decor was chosen with one thing in mind, nature. Outside, they're still working on the two pools, a diving well, water slide, splash pad, cabanas, barbecue areas, a children's playground, and picnic glade.
